Is Casual Chiropractic a Menace, asks Corte Madera chiropractor Dr Harte

Chiropractors, as a group, are a mellow lot. Some are excessively mellow, even terminally so.

I understand the feeling that chiropractors want to distance themselves from Medicine, from the formality. (Some are real medical wannabees, who might even sleep in their white coats and stethoscopes.) Yes, a chiropractor should distance himself from Medicine. More to the point, a chiropractor should be doing the detection, analysis and correction of vertebral subluxation... no more, no less. A chiropractor should NOT be doing diagnosis and treatment, which is, by definition, the practice of Medicine.

If you are paying attention to what's going on in what is alleged to be health care, you will have realized that a huge percentage of the science in Medicine is bogus, some by accident, and some purposely fraudulent. But that is no excuse for a chiropractor to be anti-science. Indeed, Chiropractic has long been defined as an art, a philosophy and a SCIENCE. With that science comes a seriousness, hopefully a passion, for the proper, lifetime correction of Vertebral Subluxation for as many people in his or her community as is humanly possible. No, this is not a War on Back Pain. This is a war on THE most serious threat to health, Vertebral Subluxation, in order to allow a fuller expression of Health, of Life.

The gravity of Vertebral Subluxation cannot be underestimated. It allows all the nasty smaller things like headache, indigestion, fatigue. It allows the really ugly things like stroke, heart attack, cancer (ew! did I violate some law mentioning "cancer" as a chiropractor?), auto-immune diseases. And it disallows the full expression of Life... physically, mentally, socially. This is especially true of subluxation in children. They are developing, growing. If they are subluxated, they cannot fully express their genetic potential. Subluxation is no simple backache issue. It is critical. Above all people, chiropractors must realize this. if they don't, they are failing in their duty to society. If a chiropractor fails to take Vertebral Subluxation seriously, that chiropractor should not be taken seriously.

"Serious" includes proper Science, Art and Philosophy. Proper science? A good history, exam, nerve scans, X-rays, with a defined schedule of care, with periodic progressive exams. Art? One or a combination of well-defined chiropractic techniques, to properly correct subluxation. Philosophy? A philosophy of life and health, understanding that healing, and health, only comes from Above-down, Inside-out.

Is casual chiropractic a menace? I think so, because it doesn't take vertebral subluxation, YOUR vertebral subluxation, YOUR health, YOUR life... seriously.
