Trading Arthritis for Cancer?

I've been seeing more and more TV ads for Enbrel, which, like Remicaid, is a drug to treat rheumatoid arthritis.

Yes, rheumatoid can be crippling. It can be a terrible thing. I can see how some people "would try anything." Well, these drugs are definitely in the category of "anything." How do they work?

Well rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune disease, like lupus or multiple sclerosis. That means that the immune system is so keyed up, so hyperactive, that it attacks the body's own tissue as if it belonged to someone else.

So what is the medical answer to a hyperactive immune syste? They essentially declare war on the immune system, attacking it vicously with these drugs. The hope is that the symptoms of rheumatoid will diminish. Of course, what really happens in many cases is the pendulum swings the other way. With the immune system chemically beaten to a pulp, the side effects of Enbrel and Remicaid are pneumonia, fungal infections and various forms of cancer. What a deal, huh?

Why not get to the cause, rather than cover up the symptoms?

The immune system, like every opther system, is run by the nervous system. Interference to that running can cause any manner of problems, including both too much and too litlle function.

As a straight chiropractor, I do not treat rheumatoid arthritis, nor any other kind of arthritis, nor anything else. I remove interference by correcting vertebral subluxation. Then your body is free to heal itself.

Racism in Health Care

Yesterday, I did a booth at the Senior Fair. Nice event.

My fellow nearby exhibitors were very medical. None of them even looked in our direction, let alone acknowledged a "hello." Of course, I didn;t expect anything from two booths down, where I experienced one of my life's dreams... proof of what my grandma used to tell me: "You live long enough, you see anything." I must have lived long enough. I saw an orthopedist going amongst the people, telling his story at a booth, just like me, humble chiropractor. (He was hawking a kind of spinal surgery, when the spine is in a state of collapse, with his put-your-heal-in scam bone scaning machine. Perhaps previous prescription meds caused the vertebrae to collapse. Or maybe subluxation to the parathyroid gland, which controls calcium metabolism.)

Most of the participants were very nice. Some, though, couldn't figure out what I was doing there. When my assistant said "Chiropractic," some scrunched up their face, made some weird kind of nasal noise, and stormed away. Not just uninterested, but hateful.

Why? I am here to help, just like a medical doctor or a nurse or an acupuncturist.

What is the hate based upon? Some cockamamie story of your next door neighbor's brother-in-law's next door neighbor, who got sore after an adjustment. Facts?

The fact is that the brain and the nervous system runs the body. Interfere with that, and function is no longer normal, resulting in diminished capacity and. eventually disease. remove interference... vertebral subluxation, and proper function... health... returns. This is Chiropractic. Ther is nothing to argue about.

There is certainly nothing to hate.

That's my opinion. What's yours?

"How many medications are YOU on?"

When asked on a form, like at a dentist's office, about medications, when I leave it blank, they look at me like I have two heads. After all, I am almost 60, and I take no medications. Some people look at this as a sign of insanity. Perhaps it's a sign of sanity.

Do they think that I have a deficiency of beta blockers, statin drugs (for lowering cholesterol) and/or blood thinners?

What do you think?

YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE TO EDUCATE

A practice member told me today, "I've been to so many chiropractors in my life. You're the only one who bothers to educate us."

Well, that's what I do. Dr. B.J. Palmer, "The Developer of Chiropractic" (son of the founder, DD Palmer), wrote "The second job of the chiropractor is to adjust. The first is to educate."

Why? Because society has been brainwashed to get all excited about every medical fad and fashion, and essentially, that the body is a dumb piece of meat, unable to heal itself and regulate itself, born with a deficiency of drugs and an excess of organs. Society is further led to believe that Chiropractic is some weird appendage of Medicine, good for simple back aches. Indeed, this is how most chiropractors operate these days, perpetuating the medical madness.

I teach because I care enough to want you to know the truth about health... Chiropractic... Innate Intelligence... and to help me spread that truth so that more people will live healthier and better.

That's what I think. You?

The Third Cause

There is a reason that I named this blog "Correcting the Cause." As a straight chiropractor, I do not diagnose, I do not treat anything. I seek to correct cause... Vertebral Subluxation.

But then, what causes Vertebral Subluxation. Everyone can figure out that physical trauma can misallign vertebrae, thus interfering with the normal transmission of nerve impulses. But that's not the only way. Back exactly 100 years ago, DD Palmer, the Father of Chiropractic, declared that there are three reasons for subluxation: traumatism, intoxication (nasty chemicals) and autosuggestion, the old-fashioned term for stress. He said that the latter, stress, was the #1 cause. But then, we think of it lastly, so I called this post, The Third Cause.

Whattaya you think?

"I trust my heart to Lipitor"

No, I don't trust my heart to some weird chemical designed to lower heart disease probability (really?) while causing damage and destruction of liver, kidneys, muscles.

I am referring to the current popular TV ad pushing Lipitor. This weak-looking man, being prodded by his wife, is bemoaning his recent heart attack. As sort of a game, he is, of course, "exercising more and eating more healthfully." But, he and his wife don't trust his body. They trust Lipitor, as if he wouldn;t have had the heart attack if he had already taken it. Really?

What they, and you, should learn to trust is your own G-d-given Innate Intelligence, that runs your heart, your stomach, your blood, your immune system, your reproductive organs... everything. If there is interference to the expression of Innate, through Vertebral Subluxation, there will be less-tan-health.

If there is interference... subluxation... to his heart, or yours, how can it be healthy?

That's my view. What's yours?

INNOVATION vs. Solid Basis of knowledge

I've been seeing this advertisement for United Health Care, with the theme "Innovation." That's already funny, since insurance companies are the opposite of innovators.

But the emotional hook is there. They know that most of you, the drug-consuming public, just go ga-ga over innovation, new advances, medical breakthroughs, blah, blah, blah... Always, wait a few years, the side effects become evident, the class-action lawyers emerge, clearing the way for the next set of advances. Have you considered that these are really fads? They may look like Science, and feel like Science, but they are fads. This sort of constant change within Medicine is not a sign of betterment. It is a sign of philosophical instability... a lack of a center.

In Chiropractic, the Principle never changes. The Power that made the body heals the body. Therefore, health only comes from Above-down, Inside-out. The chiropractor corrects subluxation... interference to the expression of Innate Intelligence, allowing the body and mind to heal. A great truth need not change.

That's my view What's yours?
