Trading Arthritis for Cancer?

I've been seeing more and more TV ads for Enbrel, which, like Remicaid, is a drug to treat rheumatoid arthritis.

Yes, rheumatoid can be crippling. It can be a terrible thing. I can see how some people "would try anything." Well, these drugs are definitely in the category of "anything." How do they work?

Well rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune disease, like lupus or multiple sclerosis. That means that the immune system is so keyed up, so hyperactive, that it attacks the body's own tissue as if it belonged to someone else.

So what is the medical answer to a hyperactive immune syste? They essentially declare war on the immune system, attacking it vicously with these drugs. The hope is that the symptoms of rheumatoid will diminish. Of course, what really happens in many cases is the pendulum swings the other way. With the immune system chemically beaten to a pulp, the side effects of Enbrel and Remicaid are pneumonia, fungal infections and various forms of cancer. What a deal, huh?

Why not get to the cause, rather than cover up the symptoms?

The immune system, like every opther system, is run by the nervous system. Interference to that running can cause any manner of problems, including both too much and too litlle function.

As a straight chiropractor, I do not treat rheumatoid arthritis, nor any other kind of arthritis, nor anything else. I remove interference by correcting vertebral subluxation. Then your body is free to heal itself.
